Sending something from the UAE to Russia can be difficult. The big courier companies won't deliver to the Russian Federation, so you might have to use a freight forwarding company. But even that can be tricky, and it might take a long time to get your package. And if you try to find a private courier, it might not be reliable and the shipping costs could be really high.
Time Saving Machine is a tool that brings together offers from more than 120 courier and shipping companies worldwide. It helps you find the best way to send your documents, envelopes, parcels, and air freight quickly. You can choose the best delivery options based on either shipping rates or estimated delivery time. Plus, you'll get a tracking number so you can keep tabs on your package's whereabouts.
How to Send Parcel to Russia from the United Arab Emirates?
Russia and the UAE have been tight business buds for a while now, but things have really been heating up since 2022. Loads of Russians have made the move to the UAE, and a bunch of companies that used to do business in Russia had to pick up and move elsewhere. Lucky for them, lots of those companies chose the UAE because they dig the vibe, the weather, and the way locals do business.
So, in March 2022, all the courier services worldwide stopped delivering packages and letters between the UAE and the Russian Federation. This caused a lot of people to wonder if there was still any company that could deliver from the UAE to Russia. At TSM, we understand this issue, which is why we came up with a solution. We now offer direct delivery of documents and packages, either straight to Russia or through a third country in Asia. And if you need it, we can even ship your freight right to the receiver’s doorstep.

FedEx, DHL and UPS halting shipments to Russia from the United Arab Emirates
In February 2022, the big courier companies like DHL, FedEx, and UPS stopped delivering to the Russian Federation from all over the world. This included stopping all shipments from the UAE to Russia. At first, no one knew if it would be safe to use Russian airspace for transportation. Even though the UAE is located much farther east from the dangerous flight zone, around the longitude of Ufa, these companies still decided to halt their shipping to Russia. So, the question remains - why did they do this?
Well, you see, the USA and the European Union went ahead and slapped sanctions on some big Russian companies, banks, and airlines. Some other countries decided to join in on the fun, while others didn't really take a side. But here's the thing - if a company based in one of those non-sanctioned countries wants to do business with Western companies, banks, or governments, they still have to follow the rules or else they'll get blacklisted too.
Now, air travel has started up again, but courier services are still on hold. And paying for shipping to or from Russia is a real pain - banking just isn't an option most of the time. That's where TSM comes in - we can handle all your shipping needs between the UAE and the Russian Federation, and we accept payments in several currencies from banks anywhere in the world to our non-Russia based account.
Shipping Prohibitions
Since the UAE didn't join in on the sanctions against Russia, you're able to send anything that isn't prohibited by the customs rules of both the origin and destination countries as well as air flight regulations. However, there are certain items that can't be shipped through mail such as:
- Medications containing narcotics, psychotropic or toxic substances. TSM can deliver drugs if you provide a prescription issued to the receiver of the parcel and a photo of the intact manufacturer's packing.
- Counterfeit items and pirated copies of intellectual property are also prohibited.
- Anything that could potentially contain encryption or cryptographic means requires separate paperwork.
- You can bring communication devices into the country, but there are some special rules to follow. There's a list of approved devices that you can bring without needing any extra proof.
- Things like pens, toys, glasses with cameras or microphones, GPS trackers, and tiny cameras for gathering information are prohibited.
- You're not allowed to bring in alcohol or any smoking products like tobacco or cigars.
There are also some items that are highly regulated, such as cash, cultural artifacts, pets, guns, and bullets. If you're not sure whether you can bring something in, just get in touch with us and we'll help you figure it out.
So, basically, you need to be aware of what you can't export from the UAE. Weapons, drugs, gambling stuff, and anything erotic are all prohibited. Also, sending cash or jewelry in your package might cause some issues. You can't export corals or crustaceans either.
Documents required for shipping a parcel from UAE to Russia
When it comes to shipping, you'll need a specific set of documents that can differ depending on the situation. The main document is typically the airway bill for the courier, but you may also require a commercial invoice, contract, customs declaration, and various certificates. If you're sending a package through the EU, it's important to have a single administrative document.
Time Saving Machine takes care of all the paperwork and helps you collect the necessary documents. We're proud to say that 99.9% of parcels pass through customs without any issues thanks to our services. And if we foresee any problems with a particular shipment, we'll let you know and suggest an alternative option.
Commercial invoice
If you're selling items that you're shipping, you'll need commercial invoices. In some cases, it's a good idea to prepare invoices even if you're not required to. TSM can help you out with all of this, including filling in all the details about your package and the individuals or companies involved.
A signed contract between the sender and the receiver
When you're working with a foreign company and following the contract, it's sometimes a good idea to give customs a copy of the document. This can help them understand the nature of your deal and calculate any duties. If you don't have a contract, but you have a proper invoice for a single deal, you can still ship items from the United Arab Emirates to Russia.
Certificate of Origin (CO)
For some products, it matters where they were made or grown. The certificate of origin shows this information and can make customs clearance smoother. When you're importing goods to Russia, the duties may be lower if the products come from certain countries or regions.
Single Administrative Document (SAD)
Back when there were no sanctions, international mail from the UAE usually went through a European hub. So, for certain shipments, we needed the single administrative document of the European Union. However, TSM now delivers items directly or through an Asian hub, which means we don't need the SAD if the goods aren't meant for the EU.
Sometimes, though, we do need safety certificates, MSDSs, and inspection certificates for health, veterinary, or phytosanitary certificates.
